Shawnee is home to numerous cultural attractions featuring history and artifacts from Shawnee and around-the-world. The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is one of the oldest museums in
Oklahoma and is home to Oklahoma's only Egyptian mummy, Tutu. Plus, the museum houses other Egyptian, Roman and Greek artifacts, art from the Middle Ages and Renaissance through the early twentieth century and Native American, African, Oceanic and Eastern cultural artifacts. The Santa Fe Depot Museum offers a glimpse into the history of Pottawatomie County in a turn-of-the-century landmark and the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Cultural Heritage Center features archives, a museum collection, language classes, gift shop and other attractions focused on the Potawatomi Nation. Plus, the community of Shawnee is home to numerous art classes, art and music festivals and special events throughout the year.
