Shawnee is home to numerous cultural attractions featuring history and artifacts from Shawnee and around the world. The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is one of the oldest museums in Oklahoma and is home to Oklahoma's only Egyptian mummy, Tutu. The museum houses other Egyptian, Roman and Greek artifacts and art in addition to Native American, African, Oceanic and Eastern cultural artifacts. The Santa Fe Depot Museum offers a glimpse into the history of Pottawatomie County in a turn of the century landmark. The Citizen Potawatomi Nation Cultural Heritage Center features archives, a museum collection, language classes, a gift shop and other attractions focused on the Potawatomi Nation. Plus, the Absentee Shawnee community offers gift shop, numerous art classes, art and music festivals and special events throughout the year.
