Prague Kolache Festival

Saturday, May 4, 2013 (All day)

Every first Saturday in May, the citizens of Prague welcome people from around the world to join them in celebrating the rich Czech culture that played a vital role in the city's founding. The Kolache Festival offers dance, song, food, crafts, a parade, carnival rides, and royalty. The festival symbolizes the warmth and fellowship of the Bohemian people. We are proud of the heritage we celebrate and invite you to this wonderful celebration.

The parade starts at 11:00 am at the south end of Jim Thorpe Blvd., goes to the stoplight and turns west on Main Street, passing in front of the grandstand and continuing past the park. The parade will not be canceled, even if it rains. Entries must be at the parade line-up site by 9:00 am but you need to allow thirty minutes to one hour for traffic. The parade line-up starts at 7th Street going back to 1st Street, which is the check-in location. The parade route is a little over 1 mile in length.

The Sooner Schooner will be in the 11 a.m. Kolache Festival parade and will be available during the afternoon for photos. There will also be OU game day activities set up along Main Street at the Ace Hardware parking lot for everyone to enjoy during the Kolache Festival.

Visit our local businesses, eat your fill of Kolaches - our famous Czech dessert, a sweet roll with fruit center - and Klobasneks, and get to know our town and townspeople. Check out the Entertainment Grandstand located on Main Street at the City Park. There will be Czech music playing there all afternoon by the band Czech & Then Some from Ennis, Texas. The Arts & Crafts Show located in the parking lot along Main Street behind BancFirst. The exciting carnival, the food booths, and the parade. Make sure you stay for the Concerts and Street Dancing starting at 7:00 pm. You won't want to miss the Chicken Dance - always a highlight of the evening.
