Shawnee takes home Redbud Award!!!

The Shawnee Convention & Visitors Bureau and Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center took home one of the 29 Redbud Awards presented by Lt. Gov. Jari Askins and Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department Executive Director Hardy Watkins Oct. 19 during the Governor's Conference on Tourism in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The SCVB and Expo were cited for "Best Partnership.”

The annual awards included entries in 15 categories that were evaluated by out-of-state judges based on criteria including customer service, marketing effectiveness, media relations, variety of audiences reached, value and overall creativity. "Redbud Awards represent the highest honor given in the Oklahoma tourism industry," said Watkins. "It was an exciting evening recognizing the efforts of our industry, and a great celebration of tourism."

The Shawnee Convention & Visitors Bureau partnered with the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center to better market the Expo facilities and the Shawnee community to prospective RV Rally organizers as well as meeting and convention planners. The SCVB provided graphic design and financial support to produce a number of new marketing pieces as well. Staff also partnered to increase attendance at targeted tradeshows and rallies, drastically increasing exposure of Shawnee and the Expo facilities.
