Woodland Park is designed for all ages. When first built in 1905, it included a sunken garden and fountains.  Now it features a playground, band stand with bleachers, picnic tables, tennis courts, pavilion, volleyball pit, 9-hole disc golf, and Shawnee Municipal Pool.  Both the stage and pavilion are available for reservations.  Currently the 75-year-old aquatic center is closed for renovations and is scheduled to re-open in 2014.  Updates include renovating the pool, adding a splash pad and picnic area, and updating the pool house.  Some of the stone picnic tables date back 80 years.  A small sculpture of a  bald eagle  atop a sphere sits in the northeast corner of the park facing the intersection of Highland and Union, along with a miniature version of The Statue of Liberty donated by the Boy Scouts in the 1950’s in the northwest corner of the park facing the intersection of Highland and Broadway streets.
