Tourism Advisory Committee

The Tourism Advisory Committee was created by City Resolution in 1994 to assist in the encouraging and fostering of Tourism in the City of Shawnee. The "TAC" provides guidance and direction to the Greater Shawnee Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce which governs the SCVB. The committee is currently comprised of eleven voting members that represent a cross-section of the Tourism Industry in Shawnee as well as other entities with vested interest in the success of Shawnee Tourism. The committee meets monthly to provide direction and conduct business activities pertaining to tourism for the Shawnee area. The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the governing body of the Convention & Visitors Bureau, grants TAC the authority to direct staff within the scope of the approved annual budget and marketing plans. The Tourism Advisory Committee and the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, working together, provide a very diverse, professional and experienced pool of resources for the Shawnee Tourism Industry.

"The Shawnee Convention & Visitors Bureau has assisted me with many projects for several years, the biggest one being the annual Bison Bicycle Classic.  They have assisted with prize giveaways, reduced hotel rates for participants, funding, and much appreciated advice!  The organization is a valuable resource for the Shawnee community!"
