We know it might be hard to think about food this close to the holidays, but what are you gonna do when you run out of leftovers? Chances are you’ll want to run out and grab a bite to eat somewhere in town—and lucky for you, there are many great restaurants in Shawnee. Have you seen all the places popping up? If you haven’t heard the news, read on.
Being Shawnee’s only Thai restaurant, Saya Thai is a unique place to catch a bite or grab some takeout. There are some truly wonderful dishes you can only find there, such as the Chicken Satay, the Fried Calamari, and of course the Pad Thai. With a selection of rice and noodle dishes, soups, salads, and curries, there’s something for everybody’s taste at Saya Thai. They also manage Elevated Grounds next door, so you can stop by for a coffee or a bubble tea after your meal.
Maybe Thai cuisine sounds a little too exotic for you right after Christmas dinner. Fear not: Sam’s Southern Eatery is a growing Louisiana franchise that has recently opened a location here in town. Their menu includes Deep South comfort food staples such as jumbo shrimp, po’ boys, fried green tomatoes and gumbo. They serve everything from familiar to unique, from fried fish and chicken to even fried oysters!
Too much fried food? How about something refreshing and healthy from The Surf Bar? Recently under new management, their menu is quite a bit different from many local restaurants, offering a selection of smoothies, juices, acai bowls and bagels overflowing with fresh, superfood healthiness. Whether you’re stopping by for something to fuel your morning or your exercise, The Surf Bar is a lovely place to grab a bite.
Here’s an exciting tidbit: for those of you who missed their preview, a new restaurant and social club will be opening on the east side of Main Street in early 2019. Going by “The Theopolis,” they describe themselves as “a brasserie-style destination where wine, cocktails, food, and culture collide in a modern, eclectic space”. Their offerings are quite different from their neighbor The Gathering Place, but we hope to see them met with similarly positive reception at the turn of the year. They don’t have an official opening date quite yet but keep an eye out for their grand opening!
Even taking all these great restaurants into account, Shawnee has plenty of great places to sit down for a meal with your family. You can browse a complete list of our restaurants here.
