The weekend of May 26-27th, MuskogeeCats, an Oklahoma based cat club will host their 3rd Annual Championship AllBreed and Household Pet Cat Show, where nearly 120 cats will compete for titles awarded by The International Cat Association (TICA).
The show is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center, 1700 W Independence St, in Shawnee, OK. This year’s theme is “The 5 Tribes of Cats”.
“Many have heard of Westminster or Crufts for dogs, but very few have heard of cats being shown,” stated MuskogeeCats Show Manager, Charles Nell. “TICA cat shows are a great opportunity to come out and see many of the different TICA breeds, speak with their owners, and learn more about your favorite breeds. Don’t just come for the cats that will be there this weekend, but also an awesome raffle table, and vendors selling cat and non-cat related items.”
Showing isn’t just for purebreds. Household pet cats can also be shown in TICA. They are judged on health, condition and show presence. Many TICA exhibitors first started showing with a Household pet.
Each day there will be six rings running simultaneously. Each cat will show in each ring during the course of the day. When not in the ring, cats can be viewed in their benching area with their owners, who will be more than happy to answer questions regarding their specific breed.
This year MuskogeeCats is pleased to announce that Deborah Ann Milette will have her service cat, 12 year old Charmer, a Savannah mix, who is the 5th Best Household Pet in the TICA South Central Region. Everyone who meets Charmer is stunned by not only his size, but his beauty.
“Putting on a show is a lot of planning and hard work,” says MuskogeeCats Show Manager, Charles Nell. “The planning starts several months before the show, but we have a wonderful group of people, who always come together, and help to pull off a great show each year.
