Founded in 1919, the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art was founded by Father Gregory Gerrer, a Benedictine monk of considerable artistic talent. During Father Gerrer's travels to Europe, Africa and South America, he collected objects of artistic and ethnological value.

The museum's permanent exhibitions include Egyptian, Greek and Roman objects; art from the Renaissance through the early 20th century; and large holdings of Native American, African, pre-Columbian, and Eastern cultural artifacts. In addition, the museum offers exciting special exhibitions throughout the year.

On the campus of our local liberal arts university, OBU, sits Oklahoma's only Nationally Accredited Arboretum. All arboretum trees are mulched, tagged, and have dedicated irrigation. There are over 300 trees & shrubs on more than 220 acres, representing 134 different species, including a seedling from the OKC Bombing's Survivor Tree.

Lake 1 covers a surface area of 1,336 acres and has 16 miles of shoreline. Lake 2 is a surface area of 1,100 acres and 9 miles of shoreline. The lakes are connected by a 10-foot-deep canal constructed in 1962. Isaac Walton Park has a pavilion, 15 camp sites, 8 picnic areas with grills, swimming, restrooms, lighting, and parking. Glen Collins Park is located between the two dams with a pavilion, picnic areas with grills, swimming, restrooms, lighting and parking.

A jewel on Shawnee's Historic Main Street, Theopolis Social Club is a neighborhood restaurant that makes all its food from scratch, using as many local ingredients as possible. It also boasts of a full bar featuring craft cocktail, beer and wine.

In addition to plush indoor digs, "Theo's Backyard" is an adjoining outdoor dining space with two covered patios and a small stage where live music is played every Friday night and Sunday brunch.

Classic escape room experience located in downtown Shawnee, OK! Currently, SIX rooms to choose from 4 -1 hour escape rooms, 2- 30 minute escape rooms, 1 of them for kids. New puzzles are added regularly.

The new KidSpace Park is now open! One of Oklahoma's top 5 largest premier parks, this playground for all ages includes playgrounds for kids from 2 - 100, including a walking trail, timed 40 meter dash and ninja course, with play structures for littles, middles, and big kids.

It is open from 7 am - 11 pm and game pieces for ping-pong, horseshoes, cornhole, checkers, and more are available to check out from the Recreation Center at 401 N Bell in Shawnee Monday - Thursday, and onsite on Fridays & Saturdays from 9 am - 12pm and 5-8pm. You can also bring your own!

This $3.5 million dollar park boasts plenty of shade, multiple pavilions, restrooms, picnic areas, and multi-use fields for all sorts of play.
