Painted Horses

In 2007, then-mayor Chuck Mills undertook the "Horses in the City" project, to celebrate Shawnee's part of Oklahoma's centennial.

Today, nearly three dozen of these "painted horses" stand proud throughout Shawnee, hand-painted by local artists, and more are added each year.

Can you find them all?

Restoring the Herd

On April 19th, 2023 Shawnee was hit by a tornado which damaged many homes and businesses as well as several of our painted horses.

We will be updating this list in the future but please expect that some of the horses listed below may be missing or damaged at this time. Thank you for your understanding as we recover.
