"Mola" was inspired by a textile piece that a friend (Lucrecia Litherland) brought Julie Blackstone from her travels in Latin America. The Mola technique originated with the Kuna tribe in Panama. It is a reverse applique technique of fiber art that the Kuna people use as a decorative technique in clothing.
