Things to Do in Shawnee

Kayak Cove is located on Shawnee's Twin Lakes and has a selection of sit-on kayaks available for rent on the weekends. Pick up your kayak and a life jacket and walk right to the water!

This asphalt divided-path trail follows a large stretch of Bryan Street, from MacArthur St to Highland St. It is two miles from beginning to end, four miles if walked out-and-back.

Bikes & leashed pets are allowed on this trail.

The Jasmine Moran Children's Museum in Seminole offers the unique experience for children of all ages to pretend to be everything from a surgeon to a pilot! There are also hands-on activities like duck races, a bubble factory, the Jasmine Ark and Playground Towers and a 16-foot climbing labyrinth.

With over 35,000 square feet of indoor adventure (and even more outdoor), there's a day's worth of kid-friendly fun at the Jasmine Moran.

Located in the wooded and grass hills surrounding Immanuel Baptist Church's campus, this disc golf course features 9 holes with a Par 28, open to the public at no charge 7 days a week. We hope that you'll enjoy time with your friends and family on IBC's disc golf course.

We conduct guided tours of the night sky using our 13" Coulter Optics and Starmaster 20" Telescopes and provide educational presentations to schools and civic organizations.

Rolling Stone Stables in Shawnee is a relaxing and peaceful place to go fishing, hiking, horseback riding, RV camping and hunting. This 80 acre horse ranch features unique amenities, modern comforts and a quiet and secluded location. They offer a private lake for fishing as well as hiking and riding trails and overnight or weekly accommodations for RVs. Their RV campsites have full hookups, 30 and 50 amp electricity, pull thru sites and water hookups. Your pet is also welcome at Rolling Stone Stables, so there's no reason not to bring the whole family. Conveniently located only two miles from a major highway, Rolling Stone Stables also has accommodations for overnight and temporary horse boarding.

Home to over a dozen bald eagles and several other bird species, the Citizen Potawatomi Nation's Eagle Aviary provides a permanent home for eagles (and other birds) that have sustained injuries serious enough that they cannot live in the wild. Visitors will learn about the spiritual and cultural significance of these majestic animals, and have an opportunity to view them up close. Tours are free, but are available by appointment only and must be made two weeks in advance.

Explore on foot, bike or off-road vehicle - the land is very diverse, ranging from open prairie to woods to some of the coolest ravines and small canyons outside of a state park. There are extremely challenging places to explore, as well as plenty of family friendly exploration and park play to enjoy with little ones. We maintain some trails, but free-range exploration is welcome. You are even welcome to have a splash in our ponds.

Off-roaders can enjoy a slow free-range cruise of the park or haul some serious ass on the multiple dirt tracks that incorporate the naturally challenging terrain. There are some incredible spots around the tracks to kick back on a hammock or swing to watch your friends shred the course.

This Citizen Potawatomi Nation Park is over 30 acres and includes the CPN powwow grounds, halls, a kids area including splash pad, and an RV park. It hosts the Fireflight Balloon Festival each year in mid-August.

Shawnee, Oklahoma is a town with a long and storied history, but some of its most interesting little details are only a few years in the making! Take, for instance, the curious case of the gnomes that quietly appeared on utility poles and other fixtures in downtown Shawnee at some point after 2015.

You might happen across one of these little gnomes by accident and think nothing of it, but you'll be surprised to find them scattered throughout our town! Painted on small pieces of repurposed wood and screwed to fixtures close to the ground, they're easy to miss, but it's hard to stop finding them once you know they're there. What's more, there are reports of gnome sightings across the Sooner State. The little people stand watch from Stillwater to Bricktown and even as far as Wichita Falls!
